Beacon Alpacas Reviewed By Selina

Hello readers, welcome to my monthly review on places to go for fun family days out. This month I am reviewing something phenomenal which I enjoyed thoroughly it’s … Beacon Alpacas!

Beacon Alpacas is a place set in the countryside full of alpacas that you have the opportunity to walk and meet. The walk is about a mile and takes roughly 45 minutes as the alpacas like to walk slowly and take everything in. This walk is appropriate for any child who will comfortably walk that far however if they are actually wanting to lead an alpaca with someone they must be over 10. The farm is very well looked after and the alpacas have lots of space to roam with everything they need. Read on to find out more about the experience…

To start with the alpaca owner will introduce you to all the alpacas in particular the one you are walking – we took Luca and Didier out. The harness is put on the animal and you are given quick instructions on how to lead the animal (nothing too complicated.) After everything is ready your walk will begin around the fields. As you are walking, Jacki the owner will tell you all about alpacas and everything you want to know. This was very informative and I found it extra good as I want to work with animals when I am older. I found out lots of new facts. Also there is an amazing view of all the Yorkshire Dales and the Vale of York as you walk around. Two people walk an alpaca, one on either side. On the walk there is a better chance to see other alpacas out in the fields too. I liked this as I took a friend with me so it was something nice to do together. When we got back we were able to feed the alpacas a special treat as they had been especially good on the walk, and a final stroke before they re-joined all their friends. There are lots of great photo opportunities on the walk especially selfies!

Overall I think Beacon Alpacas is a magnificent place to go and is a great walk with a twist. It is the type of place you can visit time and time again!

I would like to give a special thanks to Jacki who took us round and showed us all the animals. She is very nice and looks after all her alpacas with great care and love. She knows pretty much everything there is to know about alpacas. We had a lovely time. Thanks again.
