City’s Museums And Galleries Set To Capture Imaginations Over Easter

Youngsters in Leeds can hop along to the city’s museums and galleries for some exciting Easter fun and games.
A huge range of hands-on events and activities will be taking place over the Easter break including arts, crafts, creative writing and photography.
The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance at Leeds City Museum over the Easter weekend, with a basket of treats and puzzles for youngsters from Friday, March 25 until Monday, March 28. Taking part and entry are free for all visitors.
The recently-reopened Thwaite Mills will also be hosting their annual Spring Festival on Sunday, March 27 from 11am until 4pm. The event will include face-painting, a bouncy castle and family activities at one of Britain’s few remaining working water mills. Taking part is free but usual admission applies.
And the stunning grounds of Lotherton Hall in Aberford will be the setting for another springtime festival, complete with nest box making, garden games, a chance to meet the keepers and an Easter egg trail.
Activities will run throughout the Easter break, from March 25 until April 17 from 11am until 4pm. Taking part in activities will be free, but usual estate admission applies.
Little lambs will have a spring in their step at Temple Newsam House, with young visitors getting the chance to follow clues around the mansion and find some lost sheep and chocolate treats.
The family trail runs from Saturday, March 26 until Sunday, April 17, 10.30am until 5pm. Taking part is free but usual admission applies.
Elsewhere, green fingered visitors to Kirkstall Abbey can plant some spring flowers in the mini garden as well as making their own scarecrows and clay animals to take home. The activity is on Friday, March 8 and Thursday, April 14, 2pm until 3.30pm.
And the Victorian streets at Kirkstall’s Abbey House Museum will host a day of crafts and activities inspired by bugs and butterflies. The activity takes place on Tuesday, March 12 from 10am until 12pm and then 2pm until 4pm.
Councillor Brian Selby, Leeds City Council’s lead member for museums and galleries, said: “There’s going to be so much happening at our museums and galleries over the Easter holidays and it’s always a really fun and exciting time of year for visitors.
“With so many attractions to visit as well, there really is something different to do right on your doorstep every day of the holidays.”
