Dogs Take A Break From Day Job To Raise Money For Homeless Hounds

Wagging Tales

Two former homeless hounds are taking a break from their ‘day job’ to help raise money for less fortunate dogs still waiting for their forever homes.
After troubled starts in life, Welsh Springer Spaniel, Pru, and Belgian Malinois Whippet Cross, Jasper, stole the hearts of Claire Morley-Jones and her husband, Jon, when they spotted them at Dogs Trust Leeds Rehoming Centre.
Now, as well as being at the heart of Claire and Jon’s family which includes two year old twins Amber and Euan, Jasper and Pru are valued members of the team at Garforth based HR180 Ltd, accompanying Claire, the company’s Managing Director, to work every day.
Claire says: “We can’t imagine office life without them! The working day can be quite stressful for us and our clients, as we deal with things like company restructuring and all people related employment issues, but they help put everyone at ease. They are always a talking point and are fantastic stress relievers!
“There are 14 of us and Pru and Jasper give us all so much joy every day, we wanted to give something back to help those dogs who are still waiting to find their perfect home.”
The team are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for Dogs Trust which will go towards helping care for the dogs at the York Road Rehoming Centre, by taking part in the Paws in the Park sponsored walk at Temple Newsam.
The couple, who live near York, adopted ten-year-old Jasper seven years ago and Pru a few months later after their dog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross, Tama, sadly passed away unexpectedly.
Claire says: “Before we adopted him, poor Jasper had had four homes and had recently failed his final exam to become a sniffer dog! We really wanted to help out a dog who was struggling to find his forever home and so Jasper was the one for us.
“He didn’t like being on his own so when Tama passed away unexpectedly; myself and Jon didn’t go anywhere together for six months as Jasper didn’t like being left alone. We knew the answer was to get him a canine companion, and that’s when we headed back to Dogs Trust Leeds and spotted the beautiful Pru.”
Now the two are firm furry friends and thrive on being part of an extended family.
Claire says: “They get on brilliantly and deserve all the love and joy life has to offer. Thanks to everyone at the office, who are all dog mad, and our visiting clients, they may not get paid a salary but they get lots of treats and cuddles and there are always lots of people eager to take them for a walk.”Two former homeless hounds are taking a break from their ‘day job’ to help raise money for less fortunate dogs still waiting for their forever homes.
