Dogs Trust Leeds Appeals For Donations To Make Special Day “Paw-Fect”

Wagging Tales

Dogs Trust Leeds is hoping dog-loving locals come to its rescue and donate everything from chocolates to experience days and long-forgotten unwanted Christmas presents for its Summer Fun Day.The team’s eyes are firmly set on making their Summer Fun Day at the Rehoming Centre at Woodlands Farm the best ever, but to make that happen they rely on donations from supporters across the region.
Sarah Hey, Supporter Relations Officer, says: “The support we received last year was amazing so we want to make sure we have great prizes for our tombola and raffle this year as they are always really popular.
“It is a case of the more varied the donations the better! New toys for the children and toiletry sets for adults always go down well, as do things that most of us love such as chocolates and wine. We would also love businesses to donate experiences such as theatre tickets and spa days.
“We care for hundreds of homeless dogs every year and every penny raised goes to making sure they have the best lives possible whilst they are waiting for their forever homes. Last year the Summer Fun Day raised over £30,000 so if we can beat that, it would be wonderful.”
The Summer Fun Day will take place at the Rehoming Centre on York Road on Sunday 7 August from 11am. Activities include a fun dog show for everyone to take part in with classes ranging from Best Paw Shaker to Best Golden Oldie. There’s also Have a go Agility, children’s games, a doggy photobooth and stalls full of delights for four-legged and two-legged friends.
If you are able to donate something please pop along to the centre on York Road. It is open 12pm-4pm Friday to Monday, and 12pm-7.30pm Tuesday and Thursday. It is closed Wednesday. Or if you would like to speak to Sarah, please call 0113 281 4937.
