Fantastic Bake Sale Raises Cash For Liver Transplant Unit At St James’

Local News

Vicky Goodall decided to run a bake sale to raise money for the Liver transplant unit at St James’s University Hospital after her husband, Paul, had to undergo two life-saving liver transplants.

Based in the Bexley Wing Atrium, the bake sale was popular with patients, visitors and staff alike, making £1071.21 for the Liver Transplant team. Last year Vicky, friends and family ran a similar stall, raising around £500.

Vicky said “We will forever be thankful to all of the fantastic surgeons, the amazing staff on ward J83 and the transplant co-ordinators. We couldn’t have asked for a better team of people caring for Paul.”

“When Paul received his second transplant, I thought about ways we could help the department, so that everyone else using the service may receive the brilliant care that Paul did.”

“The bake sale is our little way of saying ‘thank you’. We’re really happy with how it went and glad to have raised so much money, doubling what we made last year.”

Claire Sey, one of LTHT’s Liver Transplant Coordinators, said “The money raised by Vicky and Paul will go towards improving the work of the Liver Transplant team. It really is appreciated by all of us here and we thank Vicky for the amount of work that has gone into this fundraising event.”
