Gabby Logan Launches Student Fund In University’s 50th Year

Local News

To mark the start of Leeds Trinity University’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, Chancellor Gabby Logan has launched a fund to support students to achieve their ambitions – in addition to their degree programme.
Leeds Trinity’s Inspiring Futures Programme supports students who want to start their own business, study abroad or those who compete in sport at an elite level alongside their studies.
Gabby Logan, Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University, said:
“Students are at the heart of everything we do at Leeds Trinity, and I am honoured to officially launch a programme which offers further support to students during their time at University.
“In our 50th year, we not only want to celebrate our heritage and transformation since 1966, but look ahead to the next 50 years and how we can support our current students in their plans for their future.”
The three strands of the fund: Enterprise; Study Abroad; and Sporting Excellence, reflect Leeds Trinity’s vision to develop socially impactful and highly employable graduates through teaching excellence and research-informed learning.
The fund was launched by Chancellor Gabby Logan, Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret A House and students Lewis Davey, Sabba Manzur and Gareth Craven.
Professor Margaret A House, Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, said:
“We are extremely proud of our strong reputation for teaching quality and excellence at Leeds Trinity, and pride ourselves on the opportunities we offer our students to ensure they have the best experience possible during their time here. This fund will make a real difference to those students who want to engage with these activities but for whom finance is a major hurdle. I’m delighted that we can launch it at the first celebratory event for our 50th Anniversary.”
2016 marks the 50th year of Leeds Trinity University, which was established as two teacher training colleges in 1966.
The University will host a number of celebratory events throughout the 2016-17 academic year including alumni celebrations, Golden Days on campus and Trinity Talks, featuring a host of high-profile speakers in a series of lectures. A 50th Anniversary book is also being launched, which tells the story of the institution’s transformation from two Catholic teaching colleges into a University renowned for teaching excellence and highly employable graduates.
