Garforth Lion Wins Top International Award

A member of Garforth & District Lions Club has won the top award in Lions Clubs International, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Lions Clubs International is the largest voluntary service organisation in the world with excess of 4 million members.
Named after the founder of Lions Clubs International this award recognises outstanding service to the community and, in recognition of his exemplary service, Lion Peter Crebbin was presented with this prestigious award at the clubs recent 43rd Charter Dinner.
Peter, a bank worker who lives in Garforth said, “I was honoured and surprised to receive this award and grateful to my fellow members for nominating me”.
Lion President Gary Marshall added, “Lion Peter has raised untold thousands of pounds for local good causes, he’s a worthy recipient of this honour”.
Another recent success for the Garforth & District Lions was the hugely popular annual event where Santa on his sleigh meets the children of Garforth & the surrounding area. It raised a whopping £8573.
Lion President Gary Marshall said; “We thank the people of our district for their generous support, all money raised goes to support good causes and this year has been exceptional. We are very grateful”.
