HARROGATE SPRING FLOWER SHOW

Local News

Top honours in the 2016 Harrogate Flower Show Gardens went to the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) with a Premier Gold Award for their ‘pick me up’ plot, Tea for Two.Designed by Northumbrian landscaper Peter Cunliffe, the garden explores the origins of the afternoon ‘pick me up,’ comparing the traditions of the English high tea with the Japanese tea ceremony.
Featuring an authentic Japanese Tea House, it is designed to evoke an atmosphere of peaceful solitude, flowing effortlessly from East to West and illustrating how fundamentally similar the two traditions are.
Three show gardens won Gold Awards including George’s Garden by Yorkshire Garden Designs, My Family by the Association of Professional Landscapers and the community spirit garden, A Grand Day Out, by Horticap. A Silver Gilt Award went to North Leeds Garden Design, who made their debut at Harrogate Flower Show with Transition.
There were nine gardens along The Avenue with themes including a Viking haven, a stone water garden and a sensory garden for disabled children.
