In The Centenary Of World War 1 – Will You Be The Person To Help Grow The Poppy Appeal In Crossgates?

The Poppy Appeal would like to thank the Leeds public for raising a staggering £340,446.00 during last November’s appeal to aid our armed forces and their families and for making a difference to local lives.

The money you raise goes directly for the welfare of our veterans both young and old and their dependants, to help them through unforeseen hardships. We have a fabulous team of volunteers who help raise funds during November’s Poppy Appeal in Leeds. Many members of the public at this time come forward to help and we are pleased to have the support of the local cadets and members of other groups including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In the Crossgates area of Leeds the Poppy Appeal volunteers have helped raise a huge £22,000.00 in 2013.  However David Coulthard our enthusiastic Poppy Appeal  organiser who has done a brilliant job in growing the appeal in Crossgates has had a change of circumstances and can now no longer head up the team. So we are now looking for another volunteer organiser to take on this important role in the community. The new Poppy Appeal Organiser would manage the running of the appeal in the Crossgates area with the support of his able team of volunteers. The Organiser will order the poppy stock, organise their delivery, the rota of volunteers that collect in the major stores and finally oversee the counting and banking of the funds. The perfect candidate would be someone who can devote three to four weeks over the Poppy appeal period in October and November and who loves to organise and enjoys dealing with the public. This volunteer role is extremely rewarding and you will get full support and training. If you think this role might be for you then please call Debbie on 07880 780 207 for an informal chat about becoming part of the team.

Our thanks go out to Dave and his wife Tina for all their support in the past and we hope someone equally as enthusiastic will come forward to help make poppies available in the Crossgates area this year.
