The collectors’ market for Beswick animals has been disappointing recently and prices have been dropping. However when this rare Beswick bull was brought in to me for a valuation, I knew it was a special piece.
It was entered into our special international online collectors’ auction and in spite of the fact that it had a small chip on its front hoof, it generated a huge amount of interest. All Beswick collectors are informed by email with a link to bid live on our auction.
Even I was surprised when this Beswick Beltie Galloway bull sold for £680. A belting price!
This figure was brought to us by a customer in the hope that it was an original Clarice Cliff piece. However it is a reproduction copy of a Clarice Cliff style figure by Peggy Davies called ‘Afternoon Tea’. Its value is £40-60. If it had been an original 1920’s piece, it would have sold for over £1000.
Gold is at such a high price that this 18k gold pocket watch which used to sell between £300-500 is now worth £1000 plus. How times change!
