Leeds Cubs ‘Scout’ Around Aircraft

Local News

A group of local cubs are one step closer to gaining their Air Activities Badge after paying a visit to Jet2.com’s hangar at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Marcus Mountcastle, hangar crew chief for Jet2.com, met with the 6th Whinmoor Cubs, aged eight to 10 years old, to answer their questions and give an extra special tour of one of the leading leisure airline’s aircraft. He chatted to the young aviation enthusiasts about how planes fly and even held an interactive masterclass on safety whilst performing maintenance on planes.
Sarah Dowse, group cub leader, said: “The children were so excited to be given this chance to learn about airplanes and we are really grateful to Jet2.com for giving them the opportunity.
“Some of our cubs had never been on a plane before so it was extra special for them. The entire group talked about how amazing it was to go into the cockpit and they couldn’t believe how many buttons and lights there were. They thought the whole experience was amazing and awesome and we think it’s something they will remember for many years to come!”
Marcus added: “We really enjoyed the day and it was a real pleasure to show the cubs around. They were so enthusiastic and really got stuck into all the activities we had planned for them. I hope the visit went a long way in helping them gain their Air Activities Badges.”
