Leeds Hockey Club, based at Sports Park Weetwood are all ready for this season 2017/18. They experienced an historic event at the end of the 2016/17 season, when their Men’s first XI achieved promotion into National League Conference North. The team led by former junior International coach Lewis Butler,  who in turn is aided by former first team player and Leeds Beckett University Head of Hockey, Ollie Lumley won the Northern Premier League at a canter, securing promotion with five games to go, dropping only five points the entire season.

This, however, is not the only success Leeds Hockey Club have experienced in the last year. With promotions for the Men’s second and third XI sides, Ladies third team, a league title for the Men’s sevens, and two cup final wins – one each for the Men’s sevens and Ladies fours, Leeds are showing themselves to be a force to be reckoned with at all levels of hockey.

The 2017/18 season sees Leeds Hockey Club target a promotion for the Ladies first team, to show that anything the men can do, the ladies can do as well. Looking to improve on their third place finish last season, the Ladies are already champing at the bit ready for the first game.

With over 180 juniors involved in hockey at the club and 13 senior teams, Leeds are very much a club that is built from the ground up and with training beginning the first week of this month for all ages, we have no doubt that more success is just over the horizon.

If you wish to join the club, or just want more information about training times, please check out their website; www.leedshockey.co.uk or visit their Facebook page.
