Local News

The Oddfellows Leeds District is hosting an anniversary Brass Band concert and Afternoon Tea on Sunday 2 August at 2pm at Castle Grove Hall in Headingley, to celebrate 190 years since its founding in the area.

Tracey Garczynski, Social Organiser for Leeds District says,

“We feel very proud that we have reached this historic milestone and it will be fantastic to blow out the candles on the day with as many people as possible!

“This is a brilliant opportunity for the whole family to experience afternoon tea to the sounds of a traditional brass band in such a beautiful setting. Everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate with us.”

Oddfellows Brass is the official sponsored band of the Oddfellows friendly society. They regularly compete in national competitions and are made up of a diverse age range and mixture of professions who come together as dedicated musicians to rehearse and travel round Britain to perform.

Fran Skinner, Oddfellows Band Manager says,

“We’re honoured to play for such a prestigious event in Leeds District’s history. We’ve got a lively programme planned with a bit of something for everyone.”

Spanning from the Leeds area through Sunderland, the Leeds District Oddfellows arrange regular get-togethers, as well as providing help to each other in times of need.

Tickets are £10 per person and children under 18 are free. The ticket price includes the afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes as well as tea and coffee.
