Marie Curie Cancer Care is appealing to local people to donate something a little different this Spring – a couple of hours of their time.
To launch the Great Daffodil Appeal on Friday 27th February Marie Curie is turning Leeds yellow! The charity is looking for volunteers to help collect on this weekend to help raise vital funds for the local nursing service; every volunteer will be helping to make a real difference to terminally ill people in their own community.
This year local fundraisers in West Yorkshire are hoping to raise more than £55,000 from over 150 Great Daffodil Appeal collections across the area – which will provide the equivalent of a staggering 2,700 hours of Marie Curie Nursing Care.
There are 5 collections taking place in the Leeds City Centre on Friday 27th February and the charity will give volunteers everything they need to get the pounds pouring in.
Local fundraiser Katie Grinter explains “We have collection dates booked at a number of venues in Leeds, and would really appreciate help from local people in making sure we raise as much money as possible from these. You’ll be surprised by how much you can raise in just a couple of hours and every daffodil badge exchanged for a donation will help us to provide more nursing care to people terminally ill at home.
