Masala Hut, Authentic Indian Cuisine

Business Reviews

Masala Hut is a hidden gem just tucked at the back of Austhorpe Road in Crossgates. This family run business is not only renowned for its authentic Indian food, but the warm and welcoming staff too, and this winning combination has led to a large following of loyal customers who return week after week.

Having recently re-opened after a six-week hiatus for redecoration, the restaurant is even more inviting than ever.  The new décor of rich browns and golds creates a cosy and intimate atmosphere in which to enjoy an evening out with family or friends.

There is a new menu to celebrate the re-opening which combines the wide selection of traditional Indian dishes that their customers love, along with some new additions created by the experienced in-house chef which are sure to tantalise tastebuds. One of the most famous dishes at Masala Hut is their Chicken Tikka Masala of which there are three different versions to choose from – mild, medium and Asian style which is spicier and a little hotter.

Owner Kabir says “We cater for all different palates offering a variety of spice levels and are happy to dish up half portions for children, or even nuggets and chips if that’s what they prefer so that the whole family can dine together. Of course, allergies and dietary requirements are all catered for too!”

As well as their á la carte menu, twice a week is the famous mega buffet. On Wednesday: 5pm – 10pm and Sunday: 4pm – 10pm customers can enjoy a variety of starters and seven different mains which include meat and vegetarian options along with popadoms and a pickle tray. A great buffet for just £11.95 each and £5.95 for under 12’s.

Masala Hut has a bring your own drinks policy, selling only soft drinks on their menu. This means that you can tuck into your curry and wash it down with your favourite beer, wine or whatever tipple you prefer without being limited to a restaurant wine list.

With its glam new look and good honest food, Masala Hut is sure to go from strength to strength building on its already fantastic reputation. Regular customers who had to rely on their takeaway service during the refurb were delighted to be back.

Bridget Markey and Lisa Waterworth said “along with Nichole Mitchell and Wendy Taylor we come every Monday for the excellent food which is great value for money and the staff are just the best. They even know our regular order and get it ready for our ‘Monday Club’ as we like to call our weekly outing!”

Jane and José are also regulars, eating at the restaurant at least once a week for 8yrs ever since Spaniard José has been in Leeds! Jane said “The food is always brilliant, and the staff are lovely. We have tried other Indian restaurants when we have been visiting other areas, but we always compare them to Masala Hut.”
