As we reported in last month’s edition, Radio Aire’s charity Cash for Kids launched their annual Mission Christmas campaign on Monday 16th November.
It is the mission of Cash for Kids to ensure that no child goes without a gift on Christmas Day and helps the most vulnerable and deprived children in Leeds and West Yorkshire.
Listeners of Radio Aire and supporters of Cash for Kids are being asked to donate new and un-wrapped gifts for babies up to teenagers aged 18 years old. They have over 230 ‘Drop Off’ points across West Yorkshire, where gifts can be left to be collected by the Cash for Kids team.
Last year they supported 18,935 children and envisage that will increase to around 20,000 children this Christmas. If you don’t have time to purchase that extra gift, but still want to get involved, you can Text ‘AIRE’ to 70808 to make a £5 donation.
Lauren Scarth, Charity Executive said “We are overwhelmed with the generosity of the people of West Yorkshire. It’s fantastic to see people bringing bags full of gifts to help local children. However, we often find that the babies and the teenagers are forgotten as people automatically pick up a toy whilst shopping. We want to appeal to people and encourage them to buy for a baby or teenager. This can be simple things like baby grows or toiletry sets.”

The Yorkshire Reporter will be sending gifts and our junior journalist has baked and sold buns to raise money, if you can help by donating please please do, it will spread some Christmas Cheer to vulnerable and deprived children of Leeds and West Yorkshire.”
