MUCH-LOVED TREE REPLACED AT ADLINGTON HOUSE, OTLEY BY LEADING LUXURY RETIREMENT DEVELOPER

Local News

Local dignitaries and residents gathered at a luxury retirement development to witness the replacement of a much-loved weeping willow tree that was a key feature of the Otley street scene before it was damaged by lightning. Otley Town Mayor, Cllr. Ian Jackson, and the Chair of Otley Town Council, Cllr. Ray Georgeson, were present at the ceremonial tree planting in the grounds of award-winning developer Adlington’s Bridge Street development. The Pendent Silver Lime replacement tree was carefully shipped from Holland before being planted at the £11m retirement development.
Cllr Ian Jackson commented: “I am very pleased and honoured to come to Adlington House in Otley and see the planting of this new tree on the site which local residents consider an iconic location where the former willow tree stood. I hope that this new tree thrives and flourishes and will also become an iconic symbol for Otley and its residents for now and into the future.”
Phil Holyoak, Sales Manager for Adlington House in Otley, says: “We knew that the Weeping Willow tree was an important feature of Otley town centre, and due to the nature and extent of the lightning damage sustained in 2013, planning inspectors declared the best course of action was for it to be removed. We wanted to give something back to the local community by replacing it. It was fantastic that the Mayor and Chair of the Town Council, as well as our new homeowners, were able to join us for the special occasion and we are sure the tree will thrive in its new home, providing a beautiful natural focal point in the town for generations to come.”
Adlington House offers a range of one, two and three bedroom superbly appointed apartments, designed for over 65’s, with 24-hour care available if necessary. With over 95% of the properties at the luxury development now sold or reserved, new homeowners were also able to join the dignitaries for the tree planting.
Alongside the 48 spacious apartments, Adlington House offers a table-service restaurant, which offers breakfast and a three-course lunch daily, a hairdressing salon, lounge, guest suite and activities and crafts room, all set in beautifully landscaped gardens and overlooking the banks of the River Wharfe.
