Newlands Hall Residential Care Home in Heckmondwike is in the midst of a transformation. Under new ownership by Regency Healthcare, all the rooms are being given a bright and airy look, and the home is receiving a new laundry, wet room and additional wheel chair accessible WC.

Residents at Newlands Hall can feel at home in the newly refurbished rooms which are all en-suite and come equipped with a nurse caller. There are double rooms available for couples wanting to stay together.

All the new amenities, whilst still retaining the period features of the property will enable staff to continue to deliver the top class care they are used to providing to their clients.

Many of the care team have been looking after residents at the home for many years, and are dedicated to providing the best in residential and dementia care to the people who live there. Under the new ownership, there is an in-house training programme that is ongoing for all staff to keep them right up to date with any new care techniques and legislation. This dedication and commitment to providing the best care is highly valued by the families who have chosen Newlands Hall for their relatives. As a result, the home has an excellent reputation not only through word of mouth, but is also well respected by General Practitioners and Social Workers, and is often recommended by such professionals.

The residents are able to take part in a wide range of daily in-house activities such as bingo, skittles, dominoes and karaoke, or simply relax with a book, magazine or watch TV should they choose to. The spacious and comfortable lounges provide plenty of room for all this, as does the well – maintained accessible garden surrounding the property. Residents at Newlands are able to enjoy regular outings and day trips such as to the seaside. In order to make the trips possible, the home organises fun days and car boot sales to raise funds. These events provide fun and enjoyment for the residents, their families and the local community who are always invited! One car boot sale is arranged for Saturday 6th June from 8am – 12pm within the grounds. If you can’t make this event, the next fun day is planned for Saturday 15th August starting at 1.30pm. There is lots going on for all the family including stalls, raffles, games, a bouncy castle and food/drink. The fun days are always popular and a great boost to the client fund – last year they raised a fantastic £700 to spend on entertainment and days out!

Along with the residential care, Newlands are now able to offer other options. There are self-contained flats within the grounds, and the residents of those are able to access the facilities and events at the home should they wish to do so. A brand new option on offer too is adult day care for those age 18+. This is a vital service for adults living on their own but needing extra support. People are able to ring and book a place on a casual basis for any day they choose, booking for a full or half day as they require. When attending the day care, the clients receive meals, drinks and are able to access activities as well as receive support with bathing or any other personal care.
