I was asked to value a collection of pottery by a Yorkshire Reporter reader in a recent house clearance.
I immediately knew that this piece was Troika art pottery as it is very distinctive.
Troika pottery was handmade in Cornwall for only a short period of time from 1962-1983. Much of it was sold to tourists and visitors to Cornwall. It has become very collectable and a wheel shaped piece like this will sell between £200-250 at auction.
Hello Gary,
I hope you are well. My name is Liana.I have this vintage watch for quite a few years now and I have never actually found any information about it,apart from the fact that it is a vintage nurses watch. I would really appreciate it if you can tell me a little about it and if it has any value at all.I have attached a picture of the watch to this email.Thank you in advance.
Liana
Dear Liana,
Your watch is an Accurist nurses’ watch and is probably 9 ct. Gold. Accurist is a London company established in 1946 and they were the first company to produce the 21 jewel lever movement which became their trademark. Your watch is probably 1950’s – 60’s. The nurses’ watch was worn upside down and pinned to their uniform.
Although we have seen nurses’ watches selling recently at auction for as little as £65, yours is a lovely piece and if in working condition should sell for over £100.
