Record Number Of Votes Raises The Bar For Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub Competition

Local News

The finalists have been announced for Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2015 after a record-breaking year of voting.

The final ten will now go head to head hoping to be crowned winner at the Great Yorkshire Show on July 14.

The competition, run by tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire, saw the public nominate 850 pubs with a 60% increase on last year in the number of votes cast.

The competition was first launched in 2011 to help promote Yorkshire’s amazing variety of pubs and the top 30 nominated pubs will once again feature in Welcome to Yorkshire’s Ale Trail leaflet.

Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “Once again we have seen a record number of nominations and votes in this competition which shows that the passion for Yorkshire’s pubs has far from faltered.

“Yorkshire is known for its rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes but our welcoming collection of pubs are just as important in our bid to sell Yorkshire to the world.

“We recently won a silver medal at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, with our garden, Brewers Yard, celebrating the county being home to more micro and independent breweries than anywhere else in the UK.

“Every pub that was nominated for the title of Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2015 should be congratulated and I look forward to seeing our winner collecting their title at the Great Yorkshire Show in July.”
