Renewable Energy Fieldweek In The Pyrenees: September 2015

Local News

A 7 night residential field-trip is being run in the foothills of the French Pyrenees from UK Bank Holiday Monday 31st August to Monday 7th September 2015.

This course will be limited to a maximum of fourteen participants and is organised by Dr Ian Laidlaw, formerly a lecturer in Physical Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Participants can be met at Montpellier airport and returned to the airport at the end of the week. Ryan Air flight FR2442 to Montpellier from Leeds Bradford departs at 1640 hrs on Monday afternoons and the return flight FR2443 arrives back in the UK on the following Monday at 2135 hrs.

The fieldtrip will be fully catered for other than the elective purchase of alcoholic drinks.

Vegan and Vegetarian options are available if pre-booked.

The total cost of this field-week includes sufficient carbon offsets to balance the carbon footprint of the participants. Cost will depend on your travel arrangements, less if you arrive at our base at Escoubieres-les-Bains by bicycle, much more if you choose to arrive by private jet!

The package cost, excluding the Ryan Air flights, will be £800 per person. A maximum carbon credit discount of £63 will be applied for participants who arrive at the appartments from their permanent residence without using any fossil-fuelled transport. As of late June the Ryan Air flights costs £23.99 outbound and a further £64.99 for the return journey.

There will be visits to Solar, Wind, Hydro, Hydrothermal and Biomass installations during the week.

The region is famed for its wines and these will not be overlooked during the week.
