SEA LIFE CENTRE

Features

Hello readers and welcome to my monthly article about places to go with the family and beauty products, this month it’s where to go. I hope everyone had a wonderful time with their family during the 6 week holidays. One of my highlights of the holidays was a visit to the SEA LIFE Centre located in Scarborough. Read on to find out more about my visit…
The SEA LIFE Centre is an attraction that has a huge array of creatures from the oceans from sharks to otters to blue tangs. They are put together in a fascinating way to create a thoroughly enjoyable and educational trip.
When you arrive there is a photo opportunity where you take several pictures which you can then buy in different packages later on when you get to see them with an added on scene – for example one where it looks like piranhas are eating your feet.

After that the first room you enter is set out with a big tank in the middle and a Viking boat at the back which you can climb up to look down into the tank at all the creatures. The room mainly focuses on sharks and rays but there is some other sea life in there too. You can look into the tank from many angles as it is all see through so you really do get the best view of everything. The next section you enter is the ‘Great Barrier Reef’. It is filled with many different types of exotic fish and mini creatures in all different displays. There is even a big octopus to look at. There are also animals to see outdoors such as the penguins who are in their big enclosure.
A special section at the centre is the seal hospital where you can view the poorly seals that SEA LIFE have rescued. SEA LIFE work very hard each year to try save and care for as many seals and turtles as possible- they have effectively cared for 188 so far this year which is amazing. You can also see seals that have made a happy recovery and are now in an enclosure. The rescued seals are released back into the wild where possible, but if they will never be well enough to go back in the ocean they move into an enclosure at SEA LIFE to live a happy life there.
Throughout the day there are many talks to listen to which make your trip even more educational. There are many other sections to visit; a main one being the shark encounter tunnel where you walk through a tunnel and all around you is water with many species in even some sharks! To finish off your visit there is an amazing gift shop with souvenirs for everyone’s budget and age.
Even after your journey around SEA LIFE has finished the fun isn’t over. Included in your ticket is a free game of pirate mini golf with many obstacles including water which gets your family active and having a fun time to round off their day.
Overall I think the SEA LIFE Centre is an amazing day out and well worth a visit – you really can spend lots of time watching the fish and other sea creatures, they are fascinating!
In conjunction with SEA LIFE Centre, we have a family ticket to give away! To enter, please go to the competition page
