Did you know that St. Nicholas, Father Christmas himself, is actually the Patron Saint of pawnbroking?
He would secretly leave gifts for people in need and famously saved a poor man’s daughters from being sold as slaves by throwing three bags of gold into their father’s window at night. His three bags of gold are said to represent the 3 balls on a pawnbrokers sign.
While Christmas is a busy time in the jewellery industry it is also a busy time in the pawnbroking calendar. Some people use their valuables to borrow money so they can afford the bills at Christmas and recently our lending has been running at record levels helping customers with the cost of living and those unexpected bills to pay. However many customers will take their fine jewellery out of our vaults over Christmas so they can enjoy wearing it at their social events.
If you have never used a pawnbroker before the process is simple. You bring in your goods. We assess the value and lend an agreed amount against them. You remain the owner and can come and collect them any time during the 7 month pledge contract period by paying back the original loan amount and the outstanding interest owed to that date. If you can’t afford to pay it all off in one go you can make part payments and reduce the amount outstanding to make collecting the goods less costly at the end of the term. It’s that simple!
Christmas is a very expensive time for all of us and if you are in need of an instant loan to help fund your Christmas shopping, supermarket bills or business needs, there is no better place to visit than Christopher Brown pawnbrokers in Seacroft, York, Shipley, Goole or Pontefract and Brown & Gold Pawnbrokers in Batley. For those out of our region we also have branches at Stockport, Prescot and Toxteth. We are here to help during these difficult times and can take some of the stress of Christmas spending.
Even Santa needs a little help at Christmas!!
