The Craft Centre And Design Gallery Looks Forward To Another Successful Year

Local News

The Craft Centre and Design Gallery located in the cultural hub of Leeds City Centre had a fantastic year in 2015 supporting local artists and craft designers, many from Yorkshire. Their diverse Winter Exhibition Programme provided visitors to the centre with an exciting array of contemporary ceramics, jewellery, glass, limited edition prints and works in mixed media making great gifts for not only Christmas but for birthdays, anniversary’s, christenings, graduations, leaving and retirement gifts. A 2015 White Rose Award Finalist in the Arts & Culture category has placed the Centre as one of the top visitor attractions in Leeds, making it a key player in the Leeds Visual Arts Scene.
Set to continue with this success The Craft Centre has come up with another fabulous exhibition prgramme for 2016 including their annual exhibition celebrating the romance of British Craft in a show called Made with Love (great gifts for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day), their annual showcase of rings (great for anyone wishing to pop the question this year), a brand new Ceramic Showcase by Gin Durham which is set to be featured on the Made in Leeds TV channel this month and finally a fantastic print exhibition by Mary Gillet and Tessa Asquith-Lamb.

Hayley, Artistic Director at the gallery, commented on their exciting plans to bring the very best of contemporary craft to Leeds: “Our exhibition programme is jam packed with exciting shows and we’re delighted to be working with some brand new makers we discovered at last year’s graduate shows and trade shows. I’m sure our visitors will love what we’ll be introducing to the centre and it’s certainly a treat to highlight some of the up and coming makers as well as the more established ones we’ve been supporting these past 33 years.”

Despite the Leeds Art Gallery’s closure for essential maintenance work this year, The Craft Centre and Design Gallery will be open as normal so you can discover what this exciting place has to offer from Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 5pm, closed Sundays and Mondays. Be sure to check out their full 2016 exhibition programme on their website and follow them via social media to keep up to date with all the latest Craft Centre news
