The Wildlife Trusts Launch New Guide

Local News

As winter wanes and spring starts to unfold, The Wildlife Trusts have launched an exciting new seasonal guide to help you plan a ‘wild’ year ahead. With the clocks going forward on the 27th March, the extra hour of daylight provides the perfect window of opportunity to discover wildlife and wild places on your doorstep and beyond.
The Wildlife Trusts’ new guide ‘Top UK Wildlife Experiences’ highlights the most exciting wildlife watching opportunities across the year, including details on where to go and when. From the puffins returning to the white cliffs of Flamborough, to the kingfishers rearing their young at Adel Dam, many highlights can be found in Yorkshire. And with the Easter holidays coming up, there is no better time to head out and explore your local patch with the family. Seven miles east of Leeds, Hetchell Wood provides a great wild walk, particularly in spring. Here, ancient trees meet rocky crags and the woodland comes to life with the song of chaffinches, wrens and many other birds getting ready for the breeding season. Later in spring, bluebells and ramsons put on a wonderful display of colour. Remember to wear your wellies as you can enjoy a spring splash in Bardsey Beck.
The Wildlife Trust are asking people to vote for their favourite experience. They will compile the results from across the UK and will announce the most popular British wildlife experience in 2017, so there is plenty of time to plan some wildlife adventures.
