Wellington Hill Community Centre Junior Show Group wowed the audience with their annual show at the end of October. The Junior Show Group has been running for almost fifty years thanks to charitable contributions, fund raising and the many hours of time put in by devoted volunteers.
Based at the Community Centre, the idea behind the Show Group is to engage children in the community. They are taught by qualified teachers as well as volunteers in various forms of dance, then get the opportunity to showcase their newly learnt skills at Show Week when the children perform on stage in front of a live audience. There are currently forty children in the group aged from three to fifteen. However, there are still some places still available for children in and around the Wellington Hill area. “Anybody who comes along will be made most welcome” says Philippa Riley one of the organisers of the group. “The group of young people learnt four routines this year. We would love more people to join.”
