Games Temple in Harehills recently celebrated their anniversary by bringing some fun and positivity to the deprived inner-city area. As a thank you to customers and the locals who have been so welcoming over the past couple of years, owner Gareth booked Sentinel Squad UK to appear for the day.

Sentinel Squad UK are a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2013. Currently they have around 80 active members who all volunteer their time, dressing in Star Wars armour and providing an experience for the public to raise funds for well deserving charities. Since they began, they have supported many charities including Yorkshire Children’s Trust. Last year they supported The Snappy Trust with the amount to be revealed during the cheque presentation later this month.  For the next 12 months, the chosen charity is Candlelighters who support children with cancer and their families. So far, the organisation has raised more than £150,000 and every penny generated is donated.

Landing at Games Temple on the day were the Commander Stormtrooper and Shock Trooper who are both characters from the Star Wars gaming universe. They proved hugely popular with adults and children alike, posing for hundreds of photographs. One visitor declared “This is the best thing I have seen on Harehills Lane for years!”

Gareth, owner of Games Temple said, “Thank you to everyone who has supported the business since I opened. I take immense pride in offering modern and retro consoles, games, collectibles and repair services at really competitive prices. I have worked hard since I opened to build up a reputation of trust, honesty, and great customer service. The event was a huge success, putting a smile on everyone’s faces and along with the donation I made to Sentinel Squad UK, the generous donations in the bucket on the day by all the locals will go a good way to supporting such a fantastic local charity.”
