Don’t Want To Leave The Dog In Kennels When You Go Away?

Wagging Tales

With Spring on its way and longer daylight hours many of us will be thinking of our holidays. Whether planning a short break or a longer stay for many dog owners the question of do we take the dog or put him in kennels is always a decision that has to be made. Over the recent years there has been an increase in pet friendly places to stay giving us more choice.
Pet owning travellers in the past were restricted to a few select camp-sites, caravans or B&B’s and we’d spend hours on the phone calling around to find somewhere that accepted our furry friends. Luckily those days have gone and with the advent of the internet now all it takes is a couple of clicks on most of the main online booking sites to filter out properties that don’t accept pets. Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Kayak all have pet friendly filters available on their comprehensive websites.
Travelodge have very commendably made all of their hotels pet friendly, you simply pay £20 extra for your stay. That’s not per night, as most hotels charge, but per stay; which means £20 whether you stay for a day or a month. What more reason do you need to stay longer than that? Especially as rooms are often found on sale for as low as £19 a night. We recently enjoyed a three night weekend break in north Wales for less than £80 including our dog Falco.
If you’d prefer somewhere with all the amenities you’d enjoy at home then consider a holiday rental. Home Away are actively targeting dog owners for their rentals and have over 10,000 properties in England alone willing to consider pets.
Hoseasons and Haven both have great pet policies as well, indeed pets stay free in many of Hoseason’s holiday parks. And if the thought of drifting along the canal for a few days takes your fancy then they also allow dogs on their boating holidays too.
So now there’s no excuse for leaving Fido behind, get booking and have a great holiday together.
