Local News

Pokémon are popping up on Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves and the Trust wants you to let them know what you find.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is encouraging families and individuals to get out into nature over the summer holidays, but this year with a twist; the Pokémon GO app has captured the imagination of a nation and the digital creatures are being found at some of the Trust’s nature reserves and visitor centres across Yorkshire!
Nicola Scothern, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Regional Manager said: “We have been having lots of fun finding Pokémon at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve and have seen several people enjoying the game too. We love the idea of more people being outdoors as a result of the game and are encouraging everyone to keep an eye out for some real wildlife too!”
Potteric Carr Nature Reserve is a great place to visit with the family this summer. A wonderful wetland, located in an area of low-lying land to the south east of Doncaster. The reserve has a network of paths enabling everyone to explore the mosaic of wild places. Facilities on the reserve include a tearoom, shop, toilets, hides and now Pokémon GO gyms and Pokéstops!
There are many other Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserves and centres to explore this summer across Yorkshire. To find out more, visit the Trust’s website
www.ywt.org.uk/Pokémon-Wild and plan your visit today.
Tweet @YorksWildlife with your findings using the hashtag #PokemonWild and let the Trust know what real wildlife you see as well! Remember to keep to paths and trails and be mindful of sensitive wildlife whilst you are exploring.
