Leeds Lions club has helped many people in the city – one way is to have a foreign exchange scheme in place with a Lions group in Germany. On alternate years, the Lions send a group of disabled teenagers on a holiday to the group in Germany, and then host a group from Germany on the years in between. This year it is the turn of the Leeds youngsters to go abroad and the Lions have managed to send nine deserving young people who may have never had a holiday abroad before to the Bad Sooden Allendorf Lions.

The trip is fully funded for the teens, and the Lions who accompany them pay their own way. The disabled young people will be entertained and cared for by the Lions in Germany, and next year the Leeds Lions will return the favour here. The trip this year was organised and mainly funded by the Leeds & Leeds Skyrack Lions Clubs, supported by the following sponsoring Lions clubs :- Harrogate, HornseaDistrict, Knaresborough and Wetherby District. Donations were also received from Barnsley District, Huddersfield, Skipton Craven, Thorne Rural, Warmsworth and EdlingtonLions Clubs.

Regular readers may recall we have covered the wonderful work of the Leeds Lions in the past, about how they raise funds and help others in need. The Lions are the largest volunteer organisation in the world – it all started in America but there are now Lions groups worldwide who raise money from tin collections, raffles, supermarket bag packing and indeed any way they can think of. Each group help individuals and organisations locally to them, and also wider afield, getting together with other Lions groups.

We hope all the teenagers have a fantastic time and well done to the Lions for providing this enjoyable trip to people who would not otherwise have such a fantastic opportunity!
