Light Up A Life With Martin House

Charity

Yorkshire children’s hospice Martin House is offering people the opportunity to remember their loved ones through its annual Light up a Life online book of dedication.

The hospice is offering people the chance to share a message and picture in memory of their loved one on its website right up until Christmas.

It will also be holding three memorial events for families in December, in Boston Spa, Bradford and Skipton.

Mark Clayton, chaplain at Martin House, said: “Giving ourselves time and space to remember those we love is so important, particularly as we move into one of the busiest times of year.

“Light up a Life is our way to give families who have used our services in the past, as well as the wider community, an opportunity to celebrate and share their memories of the children, young people and other family members who are no longer here.”

Martin House cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions across West, North and East Yorkshire, providing respite stays, symptom control emergency care, end of life care and care after death. It also supports families throughout the life of their child, and in bereavement.

As well as the online book of dedication, Martin House is holding services at St Mary’s Church in Boston Spa on Tuesday 6 December, and Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, on Thursday 8 December.

It is also holding a new event at the Thornbury Centre, Bradford, on Wednesday 7 December.

Mark added: “There is no cost to making a dedication, but you can choose to make a donation to Martin House, to help us continue providing our care to families.”
