Burley In Wharfedale And Addingham Scout Groups Take Part In
Sponsored Aircraft Clean
Two Yorkshire Scout groups are one step closer to their dream of representing the UK at the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland thanks to leading leisure airline Jet2.com.
25 Scouts from the Burley in Wharfedale and Addingham groups took part in a sponsored aircraft wash at the Jet2.com hangar at Leeds Bradford Airport on Saturday 16th January, to help raise much needed funds for their trip in July.
Daniel Rodley, Contingent Leader, said: “The children were so excited to be given this chance to go along to the airport and do something completely different to raise money for what is going to be a truly memorable trip.
“Three of the Scouts have learning or physical disabilities so we require two full time carers to support them. We wanted to secure funding to make the trip affordable for everyone so it’s great that Jet2.com has given us this further fundraising opportunity. We’ve managed to raise £8,500 so far, which is absolutely fantastic. The money raised from this event today means we can now really look forward to our stay in Switzerland.”
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, added: “It was a real pleasure to have the Scouts here at the Jet2.com hangar. They were so enthusiastic and really got stuck into cleaning the aircraft. We wish them all the best for their future fundraising activities and hope they have an unforgettable time in Switzerland.”
