COME AND SING AS CHOIR LOOKS TO THE FUTURE

Local News

Horsforth Choral Society is appealing for new singers to help take the choir forward into the future, as it continues to celebrate its 90th anniversary year.

Following a successful anniversary concert in March, which was attended by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, this large, mixed-voice choir is now looking forward to its summer concert – an evening of folk music and drinking songs, in July. Rehearsals have started, and new members are very welcome to come along.

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings, 7.30pm-9.30pm at St Margaret’s Church, Horsforth, LS18 5LA. All ages are welcome and no audition is necessary – just come and sing! In addition to rehearsals, singing workshops are offered during the summer term, which are free to members.

The choir’s Musical Director Matthew Lazenby said: “For 90 years, Horsforth Choral Society has been part of a rich musical heritage, and we will continue to share our passion for song, tackle new repertoire as well as traditional favourites, and encourage new generations of singers, for many years to come. We are a friendly choir and welcome new members, and it’s the ideal time to join us as we look forward to an exciting future.”

The summer concert will be on Friday 20th July at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Far Headingley, at 7.30pm. The concert has a light-hearted, cafe-style theme with music including English folk music and madrigals.
