Raising thousands of pounds for charity was a dream come true in more ways than one, for devoted couple Carly & Steven from Wortley.
Carly and her fiancé Steven, were announced live on air with Kam Kelly, as the winning couple of Radio Aire’s Win Your Wedding competition. Beating hundreds of applicants, the winning couple took on the ultimate challenge – to raise as much money in 2 weeks for Radio Aire’s charity, Cash for Kids. The early mornings, late nights, high blood pressure and endless fundraising tasks definitely turned out to be worth every minute for the happy couple, who by raising a staggering £12,381.53 in just 16 days, secured them an amazing reward – a dream wedding package worth £28,000 set to take place next March at Bewley’s Hotel!
Competing against four other couples, Collette & Steven from Knottingley, Holly & Jonny from Bramley, Karen & Steven from Bramley and Lindsey & Ross from Drighlington, they all took to the streets of West Yorkshire to compete against each other in their challenge to raise as much as possible for Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids. Bucket collections, coffee mornings at home, fancy dress/pub crawl with friends and family and bag packing… you think of it, the couples did it!
For the winning couple, Carly & Steven, the next stage of their wedding journey starts now, as they have the next challenge ahead… arranging everything for their wedding, set to take place on 4th March 2016. Speaking to Radio Aire while she tried to let the news sink in, Carly was just astounded saying;
“It’s not just us that have won… It’s WE. Our friends, family & work colleagues have all contributed to making the fundraising a success. Thank you to everyone. It’s changed the path of our life now.”

Cash for Kids is hugely reliant on the support of local businesses to sponsor big fundraising campaigns like this, so having Bewley’s Hotel involved, was integral to the fundraising campaign and the massive amount raised. Michael Sheldon, General Manager at Bewley’s Hotel said:

The happy couple, who have been together for 5 years are now looking forward to the wedding of a lifetime, set to take place at Bewley’s Hotel on 4th March 2016. Radio Aire will be following their progress through the wedding planning and on the day itself as much of West Yorkshire will be keen to see and hear about finale ending to this couple’s fairy tale wedding story!
