Yorkshire race car manufacturer, Ginetta, was named as ‘Business of the Year with annual sales over £5 million’ at the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) Business Excellence Awards.
As one of the most prestigious motorsport industry bodies globally, the accolade is a mark of distinction for Ginetta and their place in international motorsport.
Remarking upon the achievement Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta Chairman, said: “A year ago to the day, we arrived at the Autosport Show with a carbon fibre chassis and not much else. What we have achieved this year makes me incredibly proud. Not only did we deliver on our promise to make the inaugural LMP3 season a success, but proved that we made the fastest machine of that class.”
Upon presenting the award, MIA CEO, Chris Aylett commented: “Ginetta is a true British success story, producing innovative and ground-breaking cars, alongside thrilling race championships and extensive support for up and coming drivers. With almost six decades’ experience in the management, design and production of cars like the G40, G55 GT4 and GT3, Ginetta crafts many of its components on site in Leeds and is committed to supporting British motorsport.
Having just launched their highly anticipated new addition to their range at the Autosport show earlier that day, the G57, the award was a timely acknowledgment of the brand’s racing pedigree.
Lawrence added: “The Ginetta G57 which really pushes the envelope in terms of prototype racing. It’s on par with the LMP2 machines and is unbelievably fun to drive. It’s one thing to go out there and win a race – which we do consistently – but to be recognised by people within our industry as a recipient of such a prestigious award is something to be incredibly proud of.”
The annual prize-giving, which took place at Autosport International, was attended by over 500 influential guests from across the globe.
