Staff on Ward J11 at St James’s Hospital helped James Finley from Central Leeds celebrate his 101st birthday.
The centenarian, who was discharged later that day, was treated to a specially made chocolate cake provide by staff on the ward.
Senior Sister Debra Western said “When we found out it was his birthday, we decided to do something a bit special. We had to conduct a special ‘cake audit’ to find out what was Mr Finley’s favourite flavour.
“It was a wonderful event and we were sorry to see Mr Finley leave, but he had to go home for another birthday celebration event with his family.”
