  • Over £1,000 worth of care packages have been donated to support doctors, nurses and other NHS staff during the COVID-19 pandemic

The 150-strong team from leading digital marketing agency, Search Laboratory, is paving the way for businesses to help out during the lockdown by donating essential food and much needed care items from local businesses to hardworking NHS staff across the city. The effort to support Leeds’ NHS staff during the COVID-19 pandemic comes as part of the agency’s ongoing support of local charity Leeds Cares.

The care packages will be delivered to NHS staff over the coming days, including those working at Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Children’s Hospital, Leeds Cancer Centre and St James’ University Hospital.

In further support for the people of Leeds and the local economy, all items purchased by the team at Search Laboratory were sourced in local independent businesses.

Ian Harris, founder of Search Laboratory, who joined his team in donating the vital items for the care packages, said: “We, like everyone in the UK, are so grateful to our NHS staff for the brilliant work they continue to do during these difficult and unprecedented times. In our charity efforts, it was important for us to not only support our NHS staff, but to support local shops in order to help boost small businesses that might be suffering during this time.”

Leeds Cares is the official charity partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals and supports NHS staff to deliver the best care for over a million patients and their families each year. Alongside local communities, schools and businesses across the city and beyond, Search Laboratory is helping to contribute the £5 million in additional funding each year to Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.

Amandeep Boparai, Charity Leader at Search Laboratory, commented: “Local charity initiatives form a massive part of our work life here at Search Laboratory, and in these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever to support each other in whichever way we can. As our charity partner, we wanted to give back to the incredible NHS staff who are working day and night to help those in need. We hope the care packages provide just a small bit of relief to our NHS heroes.”

As the North’s leading digital marketing agency, Search Laboratory is one of only a handful of Google Marketing Platform accredited agencies across the UK and is often celebrated for its pioneering and innovative approach to search and digital marketing, in the UK and across the globe.
