With Christmas approaching we would like to give people the opportunity to help in their biggest campaign of the year Mission Christmas.

Mission Christmas, in partnership with Crown Point Shopping Park, launches on Monday 17th November 2014. It is Cash for Kids’ most well-known campaign and is different in the fact that they ask that everyone buys one extra new and unwrapped present, for a child between the ages of 0-18 and then donate that gift. There are a variety of ways for you to get your gift to Cash for Kids:

  • Drop it off at the Radio Aire Station on Burley Road – Monday to Friday from 9.00am until 5.30pm
  • Visit one of the stores at Crown Point Shopping Park and drop off your gift in one of their drop-off bins.
  • Take a look on the Radio Aire website for a list of places in your area who are signed-up as a drop-off point and take your gift there.

Cash for Kids have been running their Christmas campaign Mission Christmas in Yorkshire for six successful years.  Last year they distributed £928,000 worth of gifts to 15,375 underprivileged or sick children living in your communities.

This year they want to help even more children, and they cannot make their mission successful without the help of the people of Yorkshire.

It’s easy to do and the Cash for Kids Team will be out and about daily, picking up gifts that have been donated at the many drop-off points across West Yorkshire.

Radio Aire and Magic 828s Cash for Kids are unique in the fact that they support thousands of children by distributing grants from the funds that they raise throughout the year. The funds that they grant are only granted to children living in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

The gifts that are donated benefit so many children who are suffering from a variety of illnesses which may be life-limiting and children living in some of the most deprived areas. In 2013 gifts were distributed to individual children, children’s hospices, hospitals, schools and community groups in your local communities. Cash for Kids’ mission is to respond to the needs of these children in our communities. They aspire to enable all children to live life to the full and to achieve their individual potential.

There are many other ways to get involved with fundraising for Mission Christmas. Why not hold a Christmas Jumper Day at your place of work or school? And ask everyone who wears a jumper to donate £1. If you are sick of sending the same old Christmas cards, why not donate the money that you would have spent on cards to Cash for Kids? Or if you hold a Secret Santa at your workplace, why not buy a gift for a child instead of receiving that unwanted gift for yourself.

For those of you who do your Christmas shopping online, you can still donate a gift by buying a ‘Virtual Present’ for £5 by texting the word AIRE to 70070.

If your company would like to become a ‘Drop-Off Point’ or if you want to get involved by donating gifts as a workplace or group, please visit www.radioaire.com/pledge to sign up.

For more information about Mission Christmas and to locate your nearest drop-off point you will find this on the website from Monday 17th November at  www.radioaire.com/missionchristmas You can also call the team on 0113 2835555 with any enquiries.

In next months edition of the Yorkshire Reporter we will be giving an update on Mission Christmas. With your help this could be the best year ever!
