On A Mission To Make A Child Smile This Christmas

Local News

This month sees the launch of Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids annual gift appeal, Mission Christmas 16th November – 18th December. The Yorkshire Reporter was only too pleased to promote the campaign last year and we are hoping the generosity of our many readers will help again this Christmas to make a child smile. Mission Christmas helps to make sure no child goes without a gift at Christmas and helps the most vulnerable and deprived children in Leeds and West Yorkshire. Along with our readers, listeners of Radio Aire and supporters of Cash for Kids are being asked to donate gifts for babies right up to teenagers aged 18 years old. Cash for kids are encouraging people to buy an extra Christmas gift that can then be distributed to needy children at risk of waking up to nothing on Christmas Day.
The campaign is supported by Crown Point Shopping Park. New and un-wrapped gifts can be handed in at collection points in the stores at Crown Point throughout the campaign. Jay Heath, Marketing Manager at Crown Point said “Here at Crown Point Shopping Park we are very proud to support Cash for Kids in helping to make a difference to the lives of local needy children this Christmas. Please get involved and together we can ensure no child in Leeds and West Yorkshire is at risk of waking up to nothing on Christmas morning”.
Last year’s record breaking appeal saw Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas appeal deliver more than £930,000 worth of gifts to over 18,000 children across Leeds and West Yorkshire.
Lisa Sullivan, Cash for kids Charity Manager said “Last year was an amazing year and I want to thank the public for their support. This year we would like to help even more children and young people and help over 19,000. We can only do this with the generosity and support of the public. We have already had applications from hospices, hospitals, Women’s Aid, Salvation Army and lots of other organisations needing our help.”
Once collected the gifts are distributed to youngsters from such places as Martins House Hospice, Candlelighters, Leeds Children’s Hospital, Barnardos, Social Services, Children’s Centres and many other organisations in the region.
